the best strategy on the dating apps is no strategy
tldr: The guys who win on the apps aren't running plays. When she sends a cold one-word reply, the move isn't a paragraph or a subject change. It's one absurd line that treats her like she just proposed to you, which flips her into pursuing you.
she takes a day to respond. then it's "lol." maybe "hahaha." barely a sentence.
and you panic.
i know you panic because i used to do it too. you send back a paragraph. you change the subject. you ask a new question to keep it alive. you double text an hour later. you do everything a drowning man does, which is thrash, and thrashing is how you drown faster.
this is the default spiral. every guy has been in it. and here's the part nobody tells you: the more you like her, the harder you spiral. the girl you want most gets your worst texting. that's the whole tragedy of it. i wrote more about that specific problem in why nice guys get ghosted, because it's the same wiring underneath.
the fix isn't a better move. it's no move.
why does "having a strategy" backfire on dating apps?
think about how you operate at work. you prep for the meeting. you draft the email twice. you have a plan for the negotiation. you control the outcome. that's what got you the job, the title, the salary.
then you bring that exact operating system to a text thread and it detonates.
because a plan reads as effort. effort reads as need. need reads as low value. she can smell the strategy through the screen. the three-day rule, the "wait for her to text first," the carefully engineered callback to something she said on tuesday. she's seen all of it. every guy in her inbox is running the same playbook off the same reddit thread.
the guy who's actually killing it isn't running anything. he types the first dumb thing that enters his head and hits send. and it works. this is the entire premise behind the guy with no plan getting the girl. the strategy is the tell.
what do i say when she gives me a cold one-word reply?
you amplify it. you read a neutral or cold comment in the most absurd way possible. like she just got down on one knee.
let me show you a real one. i met a girl in a park downtown. we walked around, had a good talk. later i texted her. most guys would agonize over that first text for twenty minutes. here's what i sent.
me: first woman i've ever talked to. so proud
her: wow that's really something
me: calm down
that's it. that's the whole exchange.
most of you would never send the first line. it's too ridiculous. no compliment, no question, no hook. and when she wrote back "wow that's really something," most of you would have backtracked instantly. "haha jk anyway how's your weekend going." you'd retreat into a safe follow-up question and kill it right there.
i said "calm down." two words. and she came back with something flirty and way more invested than anything she'd sent before.
one line flipped the entire dynamic. suddenly she's the one reinvesting. she's the one qualifying. she's the one figuring out if i'm serious or just insane, and she can't tell, so she has to keep texting to find out.
why does telling her to "calm down" work?
because of the media mismatch. she sent a mild compliment. i reacted like she cornered me in a parking garage. the gap between what she did and how i responded is the joke, and she's not sure i'm in on it.
that uncertainty is the fuel. she now has to investigate. and investigating means pursuing.
here's a before and after so you see the mechanism clearly. say she texts "you seem pretty cool, actually."
before:
her: you seem pretty cool actually
you: haha thanks, you seem cool too! what do you like to do for fun?
after:
her: you seem pretty cool actually
you: my hands are shaking
the "before" is a dead thread walking. you accepted the compliment, returned it, and tacked on a generic question. you sound like every match she's ignoring. you basically wrote her a LinkedIn reply. i broke down exactly why that register fails in you're texting her on hinge like it's LinkedIn.
the "after" gives her nothing to grab and everything to chase. she complimented you and you reacted like you're being interrogated. now she has to figure out what just happened. that figuring-out is investment. you didn't ask for it. you baited it.
it's all delivery. you're the idiot toddler who's never spoken to a woman, sitting in the corner with his lollipop and his Game Boy, terrified she said hi. that's the Idiot Toddler Framework, and it's the opposite of the polished operator you are everywhere else in your life.
why do impressive guys do so badly on the apps?
if you're reading this, you probably have it handled. career, hobbies, finances, social life. the hardware is dialed in.
that's exactly the problem.
all the software that made you successful in real life sabotages you on the apps. the control. the preparation. the desire to impress. it makes you come off like the creepy uncle at the christmas party with the pocket protector, trying so hard it curdles. meanwhile the guy with nothing going for him, no career, no plan, no attachment to the outcome, texts like he genuinely doesn't care, and that reads as high value.
this isn't fair. i'm not saying it's fair. i'm saying it's real.
it's what we call Signal Inversion Theory. the digital medium flips the signal, so the traits that scream competence in person read as neediness in a text thread, and the traits that would tank you in person read as confidence. i've watched six-figure guys pull zero matches for this exact reason. the resume means nothing here. the resume is working against them.
and you have to understand the math on the other side. even an average woman on the apps is getting more attention than the best-looking guy on there. the 6'5" jawline six-pack Chad is still outnumbered in her inbox. so when she sends you a lazy "lol," she's not being rude. that's just the game. don't blame her. don't blame the algorithm. adapt.
what if she doesn't reinvest after i flip it?
then she's not the one. move on.
that's the freedom in this. when you stop attaching to the outcome, a dead thread stops feeling like a wound. it becomes data. she either steps up or she doesn't, and either way you find out fast instead of dragging a corpse of a conversation for two weeks.
the worst possible text game is not texting. the three-day wait, the "let her come to you" nonsense. the apps move too fast for that. silence isn't mysterious. silence is just silence, and she's already matched with four other guys while you were "playing it cool." if you're sitting on a stalled thread right now, the answer is in she didn't respond, send this, not in waiting three more days.
the one thing to take from all of this: when she thinks you have no game, that's the best game you can possibly have. when she genuinely can't tell if she's the first woman you've ever spoken to, you've already won. she has to keep texting to solve you.
stop engineering the perfect message. the perfect message is the one you'd be embarrassed to send. that's not a coincidence, and i explained why in your most embarrassing text is the one that would've worked.
the best strategy is no strategy. get out of your own way. send the dumb thing.

video transcript
She gave you nothing to work with. Act like she literally just proposed to you. Guys, we all have been there. She takes a couple hours, maybe even a day or two to respond, and when she does, it's a one-word, "LOL," "ha ha ha," barely even a sentence. What are you supposed to do in that situation to keep the vibe moving forward?
What most of you guys are doing right now, and I know because this used to be me, is that you get desperate to continue to have the conversation flow. You send her a paragraph response. You change the subject. You double down. You get needy. You double text. We've all been there. This is the default spiral on the apps, and every single guy has been there.
And also, worse, that must be mentioned, is that the more you like her, the more likely you are to go down this path, which is not going to be able to result in you eventually getting her out on the date, 'cause that's the main purpose why we're trying to master the text game and trying to actually, you know, improve ourselves, improve the text game, so that we can ultimately get the girls that we're most interested on, in, out on a date.
So what you need to do in this situation, instead of every other move that every other guy is going to try and fail to implement, is that you wanna completely flip the dynamic. So when you get a neutral or even a cold comment, you want to amplify and t- read it in the most absurd way possible, as if she's literally just proposing to you.
Now, for example, literally, I met a girl the other day, and, um, we had a good talk. We walked around downtown for a bit, and I texted her. Now, most of you guys would never know what to say. What I said was the most ridiculous guy thing ever, the thing that you think would never get a response. But trust me, this girl was gorgeous, so we had to go high risk, high reward.
I literally texted something like, "First woman I've ever talked to, so proud," 'cause we met in person in a park. Most of you guys would never send that, obviously. I'm at the point now where I'll just send the most ridiculous thing and just not even think about it. She responded. She responded saying "Wow, that's really something."
Now, most of you guys would've doubled, you would've backtracked, you would've said, "Oh, well, you know, I'm just kidding, LOL. Anyway, how's, how's your weekend going?" Um, or you just wouldn't even know how to respond to that. You would've asked her some other question. You would've tried to continue the conversation in any other way.
I simply said, "Calm down." That's all. And then she came back with something fun and flirty that was more invested. So that's how with just one line, with just one short response that matches her energy, you can completely flip the dynamic in your favor and get her the one, 'cause she's the woman on the apps getting way more attention than even the most attractive 10 out of 10 Chad-like dude w- who's 6'5" and has got six-pack abs and an insane jawline.
She, even an average looking woman on the apps, is getting more attraction than the best looking guy on the apps, right? And so this completely flips the dynamic because then she's the one who needs to reinvest back into the conversation, qualify herself to you, and actually starting putting more effort and energy and attention into the conversation.
And guys, if she doesn't, then she's just not the one, and move on. And that is what The Guy app, link in the description, is always going to help you do. It is critical to have something like The Guy in your pocket anywhere you go when you are dealing with these types of situations. And when it is coming...
when it comes to the most attractive women on the apps, they're always going to do this. It's just the way the game is played. Don't blame it on women, don't blame it on the al- don't blame it on the algorithm. Just understand that this is how the game is played, and adapt to it accordingly. And the key thing to understand, guys, is that one, like I demonstrated, and I'll show you another example shortly, one simple small text can completely change the dynamic back in your favor.
And what you have to understand, guys, is that the best game is when she thinks you have no game. That's why saying the most absurd thing like, "You're the first woman I've ever talked to. So proud of myself," works. That's why it actually gets a response, because she thinks or she can't even tell, and that's why she needs to...
that's why she needs to investigate further whether or not you're serious, whether or not you really are just being ridiculous or funny. But that is the best game you wanna have. So let me give you a before and after example. Before she says something like, "You seem pretty cool, actually." Now, before you would say something like this: "Ha ha, thanks.
You seem cool too! What do you like to do for fun?" Now, this is exactly when you need to get the analysis from The Guy app. Because if you were to ask The Guy what to say instead, it would give you three options. It would say, "Option one, my hands are shaking. Option two, I need that in writing. Option three, please lower your voice."
Do you see how it reinterprets a neutral comment like that, where most of you guys would have fumbled it right there, and then you get no more responses? Instead, it matches her energy and it flips the dynamic to where she's the one who's overly pursuing you, and you need her to take a step back and calm down And then the guy continues, "I'd go with three," which is, "My hands are shaking," in response to her, "You seem pretty cool, actually," comment.
So it says, "I'd go with three. She's texting you and you're telling her to keep it down. The media mismatch is the whole joke, but you're not in on it. She complimented you and you reacted like she cornered you in a parking garage. Now she has to figure out what just happened." And guys, it's all about the delivery.
When you act, again, like we've mentioned on this ch- channel before, like the idiot virgin toddler who has never talked to a woman, who just wants to suck on his lollipop and play his Game Boy Advance in the corner. And when you have that type of energy, when she can't figure you out, because again, on your profile, if you're watching this video, you probably have everything else figured out in your life.
The career, the hobbies, the social life, the finances, all that. I'm sure you have it all figured out. But the one thing you can't seem to figure out is the text game. Meanwhile, the guy who has nothing going for him is killing it on the apps. It is because of what we have discovered, the signal inversion theory.
And so what we're doing with The Guy app, again, link in the description, you can get a free trial, and it doesn't matter if you're looking to optimize your profile, get openers for the apps, no matter which one you're on, or just get an analysis of what's going on in your conversation. Guys, it works at any stage, whether you're just matching for the first time, or you've been talking to a girl for two to three months, but you can't really tell what's going on in whatever the situation is.
Free trial, link in the description. But what you have to understand with The Guy app and with the text game like we've been talking about, the guys who have everything going for them in real life, the hardware, so to speak, their software, all those traits that made them successful, is what sabotages them on the apps.
It's why they come off like their creepy, um, uncle at the Christmas party with the pocket protector. It's... And meanwhile, the guy who just doesn't care enough, the guy who's got nothing going for him, has the... So he's lacking in the hardware department, but he has the software that all his texts come across as high value, quote unquote, because he doesn't care, he's not attached to the outcome, he's not con- trying to control the situation.
That reads as confidence on the apps. It's the digital medium that has inverted the signal. So hopefully that makes sense to you. Let me know if you have any questions. Guys, like I said, if you take one thing across, um, from this video, is that when she thinks you have no game, when she thinks you might have actually...
When she thinks she might actually be the first woman you've ever talked to, that is the best game you could possibly have. And so that is what The Guy is helping you do. It's helping you get out of your own way, stop trying to have all these tactics like I see online of like, "Oh, you gotta wait three days after meeting her to follow up."
Like, guys, the online dating landscape moves way too fast for that. And your t- your text game cannot be you not texting, okay? That's just not acceptable. That is not gonna work for you. Guys, if you want something that will work, you know what to do. Link in the description. Check out The Guy app. That's all from me on this one, fellas.
I'll see you soon. Take it easy. Bye.
