why texting like an idiot is more attractive than texting like a jerk

tldr: Texting like a jerk signals unpredictability and outcome independence, which women find attractive, but it burns dirty fuel by making her feel small. Texting like an idiot toddler signals the exact same traits without the emotional damage, so she laughs with you instead of shrinking beneath you.

You think the jerk wins. You've watched enough manosphere clips to believe the rude guy pulls and the polite guy gets ghosted. And you're not fully wrong. There's a real reason jerk texting works. It's just not the reason you think, and it's not the version you want to run.

Let me show you what actually beats it.

why does texting like a jerk work at all?

Here's the part nobody admits. The jerk is doing a few things right.

He's unpredictable. He's outcome independent. He doesn't filter himself into oatmeal before he hits send. Those are attractive traits. That's the kernel of truth buried inside all the red pill garbage. When she can't guess your next move, when you're clearly not measuring every word against whether she'll like it, that reads as high value. This is the whole engine behind why red pill and blue pill both fail: each side got hold of one true thing and then poisoned it.

So the jerk isn't attractive despite being a jerk. He's attractive despite the cruelty, on the strength of the unpredictability. The cruelty is a tax he pays for a benefit he could have gotten for free.

what's the actual difference between the jerk and the idiot?

Let me run the same scenario two ways. You matched on Hinge. Vibe's good. She says the line every guy in her inbox is chasing:

"you seem different from other guys on here."

Here's the jerk:

her: you seem different from other guys on here

jerk: yeah because I actually have standards

Let it sit.

He took a compliment and turned it into a performance review. "I have standards" means he's the judge and she's the contestant. He's above her now, looking down, grading. She said something nice and he made her feel small for it. Even if she laughs, it's an uncomfortable laugh. That's dirty fuel. It works sometimes, but it works by making her feel insecure, and that's not a game worth winning. Even if something develops from there, both of you are on eggshells forever.

Now the idiot toddler, same setup:

her: you seem different from other guys on here

idiot: different how. who have you been talking to

Or:

idiot: my doctor used that word and then left the room

Or:

idiot: don't say different. every time someone calls me that something bad happens

Read those next to the jerk. Same energy. He's not grateful. He's not flattered. He didn't melt at her feet. He's suspicious, paranoid, mildly concerned for his own safety. But he never punched down at her to get there.

The jerk makes her feel small. The toddler makes her feel powerful.

That's the whole thing. She's laughing with him, not smirking beneath him. Same signal, opposite aftertaste. This is what I mean when I talk about the Idiot Toddler Framework and Signal Inversion Theory: the traits that make the jerk attractive can all be delivered without the collateral damage.

what does "clean fuel vs dirty fuel" mean here?

Same output, different source. Clean Fuel vs Dirty Fuel is the idea that two texts can land as equally confident while one runs on joy and one runs on cruelty.

The jerk burns dirty fuel. Insecurity, narcissism, the need to be above her. The toddler burns clean fuel. Joy, impulse, chaos, the fact that he's genuinely more interested in his own weird little world than in her approval.

Listen to the actual difference in what they're saying.

The jerk says: "I don't care about you."

The toddler says: "I don't care about anything except my own world, and here's the insanity I'm currently dealing with, do you want to come see it."

One is a wall. The other is an invitation. The toddler built an absurd sandbox and left the gate open. The jerk built a velvet rope and made her audition to get past it.

Both look like non-neediness from ten feet away. Up close they're nothing alike.

why is the idiot toddler actually the more attractive one?

Because he's not attached to an outcome, and it's real, not performed.

When you text like the idiot, you're not trying to control a situation that can't be controlled. You're not afraid to be unfiltered. You're not afraid to say something absurd. You're not afraid to be entertaining. That all reads as unbelievably attractive because it can't be faked by a nervous guy. A nervous guy cannot say "my doctor used that word and left the room." He's too busy trying to pass.

My co-founder and I fell ass backwards into this while building The Guy App. I'll spare you the comparison to Newton and Einstein I made in the video. But the finding held up: when a guy stops trying to be impressive and just acts like an idiot toddler, he gets out of his own head and starts being the most attractive version of himself by accident. This is the same reason trying to impress her after she matched is the worst thing you can do. Impressing is trying. Trying is attachment. Attachment is the tell.

And the jerk still has one problem the toddler doesn't. Even when the jerk's cruelty works, it works on a specific woman. The kind who's drawn to being made to feel small. That's not a shortlist you want to be at the top of. You'll win her, and then you'll wonder why the relationship feels like a hostage situation. It's counterproductive in the long run. The toddler attracts women who like laughing, which is a much better dating pool to be pulling from.

how does this flip who's chasing who?

This is the part that matters most.

When you text like the toddler, you hand her the power to pursue you. You stop pursuing. She's used to being the prey, used to being the one deciding whether to let a guy in or out. She controls the door. Every guy in her inbox is politely knocking.

You're not knocking. You're inside your own house doing something confusing and she wants to know what it is.

That's when she starts chasing. She can't figure you out, so she keeps texting to find out, and now you're in the driver's seat without ever having grabbed the wheel. That's the exact inversion the jerk is trying to force with cruelty and the nice guy is trying to earn with effort. The toddler gets it for free by simply refusing to perform. It's the same mechanic behind why the worst text you could send gets the best response: the text you'd be embarrassed to send is usually the one that has zero neediness baked into it.

I was a disaster at this. In person I'd like to think I'm a catch, same as most of the guys who use the app. On text I was writing cover letters and calling it flirting. The fix wasn't learning to be meaner. It was learning to stop guarding every word and let the idiot out.

The jerk and the toddler are aiming at the same target. Only one of them hits it without leaving a bruise.

video transcript

You think texting her like a jerk is the most attractive way to build a vibe over the apps, but you're wrong. Actually, paradoxically, the most attractive way is to text her like an idiot toddler. Now, before you click away, hear me out for just one second because I guess it is ridiculous, but think about it this way.

There actually is something attractive about the way the jerk texts, okay? It's unpredictable. It's outcome independent. It's unfiltered honesty. Those all read as attractive, and that's why there's actually a kernel of truth about why texting like a jerk is actually attractive, so you're not inherently wrong.

But here's the thing. When you text like an idiot, and I'll show you exactly what that looks like in a second, when you text like an idiot toddler, you're actually gonna signal all the same traits, except you're not gonna leave her with any emotional damage. Let me show you an example real quick. So- Say you're vibing on the app, right?

You just matched with her on Hinge or something. The vibe's going good, and she says, "You seem different from other guys on here." Now, the jerk, the dude who's drowning in red pill manosphere content right now, says something like, "Yeah, because I actually have standards." Okay. You know, I get it. I get it.

Certainly better than a lot of what these like blue pill guys will be texting, I won't lie. But now think about here's the guy's analysis, right? So you can see why it's not gonna work. It's red pill garbage. He took a compliment and turned it into a performance review. I have standards means he's the judge and she's the contestant.

He's above her now looking down, evaluating. She didn't ask to be graded. She said something nice, and he made her feel small for it. Even if she laughs, it's an uncomfortable laugh. This is dirty fuel. It works sometimes, but it works by making her feel insecure and that's not a game worth winning. Exactly, guys.

Even if the relationship develops from there, it's not gonna be a fun vibe. Both parties are always gonna be on eggshells. Just gonna be bad vibes overall. Now, the idiot toddler version here, as you'll see, is totally different. And what the idiot toddler would simply say is he would just act totally clueless and say, "Different how?

Who have you been talking to?" Or two, "My doctor used that word and then left the room." Or three, "Don't say different. Every time someone calls me that, something bad happens." And then it says, I'd go with one, "Different how? Who have you been talking to?" Same energy as the jerk. He's not grateful. He's not flattered.

He didn't melt at her feet. But instead of punching down at her, he's suspicious, paranoid, confused. She's laughing with him, not smirking beneath him. That's the difference. The jerk makes her feel small. The toddler makes her feel powerful. So guys, that's how you actually flip the dynamic on the dating apps, okay?

And this is how you're gonna come across as much more playful and fun and flirtatious, when you start texting like an idiot toddler, okay? It's clean fuel versus dirty fuel, okay? So the jerk is built... is burning dirty fuel, okay? Insecurity, narcissism, cruelty. The toddler, on the other hand, is joy, impulse, fun, okay?

It's gree- it's clean fuel. All right?

And so the jerk, the jerk is basically saying, "I don't care about you." The toddler says, "I don't care about anything except my own world. Here's what's going on. Here's the insanity that I'm currently dealing with." And through that, he invites the woman to come join along and play in this insane sandbox, literally and figuratively, that he's created, okay?

And so guys, if you're new to this channel, and you actually need help with the text game, I should have mentioned, that was with The Guy app, link in the description. We're helping men text like the catch they are. Because one of the foundational frameworks of The Guy app, link in the description if you wanna get a free trial, is that it texts like an idiot toddler version, okay?

And I've made videos on the past about why this is such an effective framework for texting women. Not the least of which is 'cause you're actually going to bring joy into her life versus all the negativity that the jerk is. But when you, for whatever reason... And me and my co-founder, as we developed The Guy app, we fell ass backwards into this, into this, um, discovery, if you will, right?

It's up there with Newton's three laws of physics and all that, all right? And Einstein and his E equals MC squared nonsense. But guys, for some reason, when you just act like an idiot toddler, that wa- we found that it helps men get out of their own head, especially on the apps, and just start being fun, being unfiltered, and being the most attractive version of themselves, okay?

Because when you text like the idiot toddler, like I said, it's, it reads as high value on the apps, because you're not attached to an outcome. You're not trying to control a situation that can't be controlled. You're not afraid to be unfiltered. You're not afraid to say absurd things. You're not afraid to actually be entertaining, and that all reads as unbelievably attractive on the apps.

But the upside to this approach, like I just demonstrated, is that you're not gonna leave her feeling bad about herself, feeling insecure. And the, the paradox is, is that yes, while it can read as attractive for a short period of time when you text like a jerk, ultimately, you're just going to attract women you don't really wanna be with.

The only women that are going to be attracted to that are gonna have issues emotionally and all that, and it's just never going to lead to a fulfilling relationship for you. So it's ultimately counterproductive in the long run. And so much of what it comes down to is when you text like the idiot toddler, you are giving her the power to pursue you and flip the dynamic.

You are not gonna be pursuing her any longer, all right? And then from there, she finds it very attractive because she's so used to being the prey constantly, and essentially controlling the door of whether she lets a guy in or out. But when you flip the dynamic, when you text like an idiot toddler- And you l- and she starts chasing you, and she can't figure you out, then all of a sudden you're in the driver's seat.

Okay? So that's what you have to understand. Hopefully this video's made sense to you guys. If you're on the apps and you're struggling, and you wanna fix the text game, you know what to do.
